Rising development activity as a result of growing confidence among local authorities and developers has prompted London law firm Winckworth Sherwood to promote a senior planner.

Senior associate Lindsay Garratt became a partner last week and has planning experience in large-scale regeneration schemes such as the Vauxhall and Nine Elms Opportunity Area.

She told Planning: "The improving economy, the London mayor's £42,000 new-homes-a-year target and the coalition's help-to-buy schemes are all helping.

“Lots of local authorities are now more pro development and open for business in terms of wanting to see projects come through, which helps.

“Meanwhile our developer clients are in a better place that they were a few years ago and seeing a return to profit, so there's more confidence internally in those organisations.”
