Derek Stebbing struttProperty consultancy Strutt & Parker has appointed Derek Stebbing as planning policy consultant.

Stebbing’s last previous role was as planning policy manager at Chelmsford City Council, where he helped the authority become one of the first to introduce a community infrastructure levy.

His new role will see him advising the firm’s national development and planning team to help clients navigate the planning process.

In September 2015, Stebbing was selected to join the Local Plans Expert Group set up by the Department for Communities and Local Government to advise on measures to streamline the local plan system in England.

The LPEG report was published in March, and the government is currently considering its recommendations.

Before working for Chelmsford, the new recruit worked at London Borough of Redbridge, rising to principal planning officer.

He has a postgraduate diploma in environmental planning.
