Hinckley officesA local authority in the Midlands is looking to boost its planning team after seeing a spike in planning applications across the board.

Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council is seeing major housing developments come forward and big town-centre retail and leisure projects come on stream.

Planning manager Simon Atha told Planning: “We have seen a spike in the volume of applications submitted across the board, from domestic home extensions to large housing developments."

The council is looking two recruit two planning assistants, one in compliance and enforcement and the other to handle the spike in planning applications.

The council is also hoping to recruit principal planning officer role to help manage junior officers and lead on major development proposals.

“Hinckley lies on the east-west Midlands border and is well connected by major transport links to the cities of Leicester, Coventry and Birmingham.

“This strategic location makes it a hot spot for housing and business development", said Atha.
