Savills appoints new planning director

Savills has recruited a new planning director to focus on London's Square Mile.
John Watson has joined the 50-strong London planning team of the firm. He worked for the City Corporation for 23 years and joined the company from architects Scott Brownrigg.
He told Planning: “The City has ambitious targets for offices, with another 25,000 people expected to work there in the next 10 years.
“But it also wants to increase retail space. Its local plan has just been adopted and the City is keen for the area to be seen as an attractive destination, not just a place to work.”
