The royal borough's town hallA London borough has expanded by taking on a new senior planning policy manager.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has recruited Julia Johnson from the London Borough of Hounslow to work across sectors including housing.

Head of forward planning Jonathan Wade told Planning: "Kensington and Chelsea is full of listed buildings and conservation areas, but that’s only half the story.

"We have ambitious regeneration plans including increasing our rate of housing delivery. We have to make sure sure we reach the London mayor's target for housing.

"This means ensuring we have the best policy in place to deliver, and this includes providing more affordable housing."

Johnson will help develop the borough's local plan and supporting framework to ensure the council protects heritage sites but also drives regeneration.

"She will help us meet the overriding imperative to create of sustainable development," added Wade.
