Reid joins Vail Williams from council role

Nicky Reid has joined the Southampton office of property adviser Vail Williams as an associate planner.

Reid joins from Eastleigh Council, where where she worked as a senior planner in the major applications team.

She will work with public and private sector clients, submitting planning applications and project managing the planning process.

She will also undertake strategic planning work, planning appraisals and written objections for various applications on behalf of clients.

She told Planning: “Coming from local government planning, it is a whole new world and I am already learning how the planning part fits in with the rest of the surveying and valuing part of the development process.”

Reid started as a receptionist in the council’s planning department before becoming a planning technician.

She completed a diploma in planning policy and practice from Southbank University during day release from her job.

Her first degree is a bachelor’s in environmental protection from Bournemouth University.

In her spare time, Reid is part of a brass band at championship level where she plays percussion, ranking 15th highest in the world.
