A Yorkshire council says it is facing rising development pressure from large-scale projects.

Hambleton District Council development manager Tim Wood told Planning: “Our local authority area forms part of the 'communication corridor' between the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors National Park.

“It's a rural area but there is lots of activity and pressure for large-scale developments such as housing projects for 80 to 150 units."

The council is looking to recruit a planning officer to work on a range of rural and town-scale projects.

Wood said: “The postholder will deal with and manage applications for projects such as homes in market towns, but housing is not the sole focus of the job.

“The new recruit will tackle schemes for agricultural development and commercial projects. We have a fine act to balance in meeting demand for development without ruining the rural environment.”
