Housebuilder Persimmon is on a recruitment drive for planners as the company expands following a highly profitable 2013.

The company is currently looking for graduate planners, development planners and strategic planning/land managers to join its offices across the UK.

According to the company’s accounts, Persimmon sold 11,528 homes last year, up 16 per cent on 2012. Over the same period the company increased its turnover by 21 per cent to £2.09 billion and grew its pre-tax profit by 49 per cent to £330 million.

House prices rose by 8.4 per cent in 2013 according to the Nationwide building society and many of the big house builders reported improved financial performance towards the end of the year.

A spokesman for Persimmon said: “Persimmon had a very strong 2013 and that momentum has carried forward into this year.

“As we continue to build the business for the future we are strengthening our capabilities in every area, including planning.”
