An increase in business attributed to provisions in the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) means that rural planning and development consultancy Rural Solutions is expanding.

The consultancy is looking to recruit a new planner at its Malmesbury office to cope with the firm’s growing workload.

The role would involve dealing with a range of planning activities such as promoting sites through the development plan system, evaluation of land use options and providing advice to private sector clients.

John Westerman, Rural Solutions associate director for the South West, told Planning: “The NPPF provides a very positive for sustainable development in rural locations. We have seen a rise in demand for our business in both housing and commercial sectors.”

He said that the ideal candidate for the job would be a member of the RTPI, with a strong commercial understanding and hold excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Established over 10 years ago in North Yorkshire, Rural Solutions operates nationally from offices in Wiltshire, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire and Hertfordshire with a head office in Skipton.

It covers all stages of the development process, from market assessment and idea creation, through delivery of planning consents and managing build processes.
