Sevenoaks officesIncreasing development pressure has prompted one of Kent's busiest planning authorities to look to grow its planning team.

Sevenoaks District Council chief planning officer Richard Morris told Planning: “We are continuously busy; in fact we are the busiest authority in Kent in terms of planning applications.

“We are under significant development pressure, at the start of a review of our local plan and are working very hard to try and meet our objectively assessed needs.”

The local authority wants to recruit a development manager to help take on the increasing workloads. The new recruit will join a development management team currently numbering about 18 planners.

“Being just half an hour from central London by train there is plenty going on with ever more pressure for development,” said Morris.
