Mendip District Council has appointed Andrew Jordan as a senior planner.

Jordan joins the council from Weymouth and Portland Borough Council where he served as development management.

He brings experience of working in South West England to the role, which will see him working on a range of minor and major planning proposals.

The role will also involve supervising and mentoring other case officers and authorising decisions made by the council.

Jordan will also give pre-application advice and represent the council at planning appeals in addition to liaising with parish and town councils across the borough.

Prior to his previous job, he worked as a planning assistant at South Somerset District Council and at the now-defunct Yeovil District Council as a planning support assistant.

Jordan gained a DipTP degree in town planning from the University of South West England and also possesses an Advanced Certificate Management Studies from University Centre Yeovil.

He is a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
