KathrynJLLA resurgent housing market and introduction of proposed planning legislation in Wales have led property consultancy JLL to set up a Cardiff planning operation.

Senior consultant Kathryn Williams has moved from the company’s West End office to lead on consultancy at the base in the Welsh capital.

“The move has been prompted by the change in the market conditions,” she told Planning. “There are also a lot of changes in terms of new bills for planning, the environment and heritage.

“There's a real drive for housing while the Welsh planning system is under full scrutiny on making it quicker, simpler and more transparent.”

Chris Sutton, head of the Cardiff office, said: “Changes to planning policy should lead to a more attractive regime in Wales by 2016. We need to invest in this area of property consultancy.”
