Rectory Homes.officeDemand for housing is forcing a regional house builder to target its planning efforts on promote more strategic sites.

Rectory Homes, based in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire, operates across the south-east region and is seeing continuing growth of business, planning manager Tim Northey told Planning.

“The underlying cause of our rise in workload is the big need to build houses and the government's policy drive to get the numbers up,” he said.

“We are not one of the big-ten plc house builders but as a small-to-medium sized privately-owned business, trying to get things through planning is slow and throws up lots of challenges.

“Local authorities meanwhile are trying to balance their books and planning perhaps isn't getting the resources it needs. We have a lot in the system, but that system is slow.”

The firm is looking to recruit a planning assistant to appraise potential development opportunities; prepare and submit planning applications and appeals and promote strategic sites.
