London outsourcing team appoints senior planner

A joint venture between a London council and an outsourcing company has recruited a senior planner to sharpen its performance and business strategy.

Joe Montgomery has been appointed non-executive director and independent chairman of Re, the joint-venture between Capita and Barnet Council.

Re provides regulatory services to residents in Barnet including planning, development management and building control. The company was formed in 2013 and also covers the south east.

Montgomery, previously director general for the Department for Communities & Local Government and a former executive director for regeneration at Lewisham Council, told Planning: “I will work with councillors, residents, staff and prospective investors to continue building shared prosperity.”
