Consultancy GVA has promoted Richard Slipper to senior director within the company's planning development and regeneration team in Glasgow to handle a leap in activity related to large urban developments.

The promotion follows last year's merger with James Barr in Scotland and a recently announced strategic merger with Bilfinger Real Estate, based in Germany.

Slipper, who was promoted from director, told Planning: “The last six to 10 months have seen a profound change especially with large urban schemes.

“Funds are active, investors are interested and developers are pursuing sites. Money is channelling back through urban sites to get new ideas tabled afresh.”

He said prime-location, city-centre office and retail projects were coming on stream, while residential work was driven by student, private rented and build-for-sale markets.
