Stoke plansStoke-on-Trent City Council to seeking to expand it's planning team to deal with rising development pressures.

Planning and transportation policy manager Austin Knott told Planning: "Planning and transportation policy plays a pivotal role in the city's future prosperity."

The authority is currently preparing a new joint local plan with Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, he said. Stoke-on-Trent has also been designated a Housing Zone, pushing up workloads.

The council is looking to grow its planning team with a number of new posts including a senior planning officer to join a policy team that currently numbers three planners and a transport policy officer.

"The new postholder will prepare and manage the production of evidence-based documents; help develop the local plan and act as an expert witness at public examination and hearing sessions", Knott said.
