Joint East Anglia planning team plans expansion

Suffolk coastlineSuffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils want to expand their shared development management team to help it take on growth challenges.

Planning development manager Phillip Rowson told Planning: "Suffolk has coastline, numerous market towns and villages, all within a sensitive cultural and environmental landscape.

"The brings significant growth challenges and we want to bring new people on board to work on planning and enforcement issues." 

The councils are looking to recruit two new assistant planning and enforcement officers to a development management team numbering 20 planners.

"The postholders will assess and make recommendations on pre-application enquiries, minor development and householder planning applications, as well as carrying some enforcement duties", said Rowson. 

Key major projects within the area including Sizewell new nuclear plant, BT Adastral Park, the Port of Felixstowe and associated renewable energy opportunities.
