Council reviews planning service to boost efficiency

Castle Point Borough Council officesAn Essex local council authority is reviewing its planning service to help streamline its handling of planning applications.

Castle Point Borough Council is expanding its service as part of a review in the build up to adopting its local plan which is presently out to consultation.

Planning policy and support manager Anne Clitheroe told Planning: "We have had a review of the planning service.

"We want to make sure we can be as efficient as possible to get applications in and out of the system. Two new posts have become available."

Castle Point Borough Council is seeking to recruit a planning policy officer and a planning technician. The former will deal with strategic planning policy matters. 

The technician will tackle planning registration and validation matters as well as permitted development queries.
