New town planners primed for regeneration push

Zayd Al-JawadA local authority planning team is expanding to tackle regeneration projects and target key priorities including creating more affordable housing.

Stevenage Borough Council has made Zayd Al-Jawad head of planning and engineering and Ash Ahmed assistant director for housing development.

Al-Jawad, who has 15 years’ experience in the planning sector, joined from the London Borough of Southwark where he was a planning manager.

Ahmed joined from Basildon Borough Council.

“Regenerating Stevenage is a hot topic and I will be responsible for leading on the council’s local plan adoption and supporting new sustainable development,” said Al-Jawad.
