Bidwells has appointed its head of planning, Mike Derbyshire, (pictured) to its main board a year after joining the property consultancy.

Derbyshire, the first planner on the board for two years, told Planning: “We are looking to grow around the London to Cambridge corridor and expand west. Bio-medical and high-tech sectors are seeing huge growth.”

Before joining the private sector Derbyshire was head of planning at Broadland District Council in Norfolk and before that a chief planner at Three Rivers District Council and also at the London Borough of Barnet.

Senior partner Patrick McMahon told Planning: “Bringing in Mike is part of a drive to increase the amount of planning at the higher end. The Oxford, Cambridge, London triangle has tremendous opportunity.”
