NottinghamA city council has recruited a senior principal planning officer to help it deliver major regeneration and infrastructure initiatives.

Nottingham City Council has recruited Jenny Cole from Gedling Borough Council, which covers the north and north-east areas of the Midlands city.

Area planning manager Rob Percival told Planning: “Nottingham is a vibrant place and is attracting a wide variety of large-scale, high-profile developments, of which there is currently an upsurge.

“Regeneration is the strongest development agenda at the moment across the city. Jenny will be dealing with major planning projects.

“We've just had an application approved to redevelop Broadmarsh shopping centre, which is an important project given the problems facing the high street across the UK.

“But infrastructure such as road widening, the opening of more tram lines and turning the railway station into an integrated transport hub are throwing up big development opportunities.”

Percival said Cole was the most senior case officer post in one of two development management teams.

“She is handling large and complex development proposals along with other planning applications, appeals and pre-application enquiries.

"She is also helping me deliver a high-quality team service and will take on mentoring of junior staff.”
