Bovis Housebuilder Bovis Homes is looking to grow its new national planning team which was created following a restructure of its strategic land operations.

The company has established a centralised “Group Land” team which looks to secure, promote and deliver sites through the planning process.

It is now seeking further planning managers and planners to work within the planning team which is based at Bishops Cleeve near Cheltenham.

Fiona Milden, strategic planning director at Bovis, told Planning that centralising the strategic land function would help to improve communications and reap benefits of scale.

She said: “From an operational perspective it helps us. Due to the scale of our portfolio we rely on external consultant teams and the move will help drive efficiencies and consistency in the way we promote sites.

"It also lets us take a national overview, monitoring planning and development trends, and means that we are not operating in silos.”

The new staff will work alongside the other two functions within the Group Land team – land acquisition and major projects – to assess, secure, promote, acquire and deliver sites for construction by the firm's eight regional operating businesses.

Milden said: “As a leading national housebuilder, we have a large number of strategic land opportunities coming into the business and we now have a strong set-up that allows us to robustly promote sites for development.

“To date we have achieved some real successes by way of local and neighbourhood plan allocations, and short term applications.

“The new structure provides a great basis upon which to move forward.”
