Babergh and Mid Suffolk expands development management team

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are expanding their development management services after a jump in applications.

Professional lead for growth and sustainable planning Phil Isbell told Planning: “There's been a surge in applications and we need additional capacity to deal with the increasing workload.

“There is quite a bit of growth around the Ipswich area and projects include mixed-use development, housing and commercial schemes.”

The councils are looking to recruit two development management planning (DM) officers. The DM team across both districts currently numbers 40 planners.

Two years ago Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils brought together staff from various departments including planning to streamline services.
