Crossrail PlaceDevelopment consultancy Arup is expanding its planning team due to a rise in workload.

The firm is seeking a new senior town planner to join its team of planners based in Solihull.

Adam Hart, resourcing business partner at Arup, said that the move would take the number of planners in the office to 15.

He said: “The opportunity will involve delivering consents on significant and diverse infrastructure projects across the energy, aviation, major highways and high speed rail sectors.”

In addition, the new appointee will help prepare local, sub-regional and national planning policy and guidance, deliver consultation and engagement, plus research and evaluation projects.

The new role, he added, will involve leading specific aspects of major projects, taking full responsibility for smaller projects, mentoring more junior planners and helping drive business development within a wider, multi-disciplinary team.

Candidates will need the ability to provide quality technical guidance, combined with equally strong influencing and interpersonal skills, Hart said.

Arup has been involved with large-scale projects including Crossrail, High Speed 2 and London’s Garden Bridge project.
